Tsuyoshi Koshiro earned an M.S. in 2001 at Hokkaido University for his work on aerosol-cloud interactions using satellite observations and climate model simulations. After graduation, he worked for Fujitsu FIP Corporation as a computer systems engineer and was engaged in supporting researchers with investigations in atmospheric sciences, including development of satellite radar/lidar simulators and retrieval systems for various remote sensing observations, until 2004. Then he entered Kyoto University as a Ph.D. student and investigated variation of low stratiform clouds and its mechanism using satellite and ship-based observations. After withdrawal from the doctoral program with the completion of course requirements in 2009, he has worked for Meteorological Research Institute as a research associate. He is currently working on climate model development related to cloud/radiation/aerosol processes, evaluation of clouds simulated in climate models, and analysis of cloud-climate feedback processes, as well as observational studies of low stratiform clouds and their role in climate. He received a Ph.D. from Graduate School of Science at Kyoto University in July 2018. The title of the Ph.D. thesis is "Large-Scale Variability in Marine Low Stratiform Cloud Amount and Its Relationship to Lower-Tropospheric Static Stability in Terms of Cloud Types".
