3. Result: dust-free case a. Horizontal mean fields
3.a.i. Turbulent diffusion coefficient
Figure 3b:
Diurnal change of the vertical profile of horizontal mean
turbulent diffusion coefficient of the dust-free case
below the height of 1 km.
Profiles are for every 2 hours from LT = 8:00 to 18:00
of the sixth day.
Number on each line indicates local time.
Figure 3b shows the time development of
horizontal mean turbulent diffusion coefficient below 1
km height.
Below the height of 150 m, the horizontal mean turbulent
diffusion coefficient decreases toward the ground
surface.
During the time from LT = 12:00 to 14:00
when the activity of thermal convection is the largest,
the value of horizontal mean turbulent
diffusion coefficient is roughly about 20
m2sec-1
except near the surface.
